Football is a game of millions. But for players to show their true potential, certain conditions are needed. The 2026 stadiums (such as the new arenas in the US and Mexico for the World Cup) strive to approach the ideal.

Turf Quality

The turf should be even, springy, and green. Grass height: 25-30 mm. Natural turf (a mixture of ryegrass and oats) requires round-the-clock care (irrigation, heating, lighting). Artificial turf (approved by FIFA) is used more frequently, as it is not dependent on the weather and more durable. But the ideal is natural.

Weather

Temperature +18...+22°C, no rain and wind. A light breeze (up to 5 m/s) has little effect on the ball's flight. Water breaks are introduced when the temperature exceeds +30. Heavy rain makes the field slippery and the ball unpredictable.

Lighting

An ideal stadium has 2000 lux of lighting, without shadows on the field. The light should be even (for TV broadcasts). Modern LED projectors turn on instantly and do not blind goalkeepers.

Acoustics

Players should be able to hear the referee's whistle even when the stands are cheering. The oval shape of the stadium (like "Wembley") creates a "sound wall," but not echo, which disrupts communication.
