In Ancient Rome, the wolf was dedicated to Mars, the god of war, and served as an omen of victory. The most famous Roman myth is the story of the she-wolf who fed Romulus and Remus, legendary founders of Rome. This image became a symbol of care, strength, and motherhood.

Scandinavian mythology represents the wolf ambiguously. On one hand, the giant wolf Fenrir, one of the children of the god Loki, embodies the destructive forces of chaos. On the day of Ragnarök, he will swallow the sun and kill Odin himself. On the other hand, the two wolves of Odin, Geri and Freki, were his loyal companions, symbolizing his spirit and thought.

Among nomadic peoples: totem and \"wolf spirit\"

Among many Turkic and Mongolian peoples, the wolf was revered as the ancestor and a symbol of military valor. The legend of the Turks' origin from a she-wolf is widely spread in their epic. The wolf symbolizes tenacity, endurance, and the \"wolf character\" necessary for survival in the harsh conditions of the steppes.

In modern Turkey, Kemal Atatürk was called the \"Gray Wolf,\" which is the highest sign of respect. Among the Kirgiz, Altai, and Yakut, the wolf also appears as an ancestor in the epic.
