The title is not meant to be used as a dirty word. Our ships go to the ocean zone, frankly, infrequently. However, the crews act confidently, despite the tight guardianship of aviation and ships of "probable partners". Those who consider the world safe should see how the Orions maneuver, grossly violating international treaties... And take the joint US-Japanese-Korean naval exercises with the landing of troops in Hokkaido?.. In the nearest torrential zone - the smell of gunpowder. And the destroyers of the Russian Pacific Fleet are quite useful there.
Through the storm
After a long separation from the sea, strong winds and pitching initially affected the crew of the destroyer Stormy overwhelmingly. Still, it's not for nothing that the ship is considered one of the best in the compound. After two days, everything returned to normal, people were drawn into a special marching rhythm of the watches.
In the area of the International Strait, the destroyer "Burny" was accompanied by frigates and aircraft of the Japanese tracking forces, which constantly maintained high activity. The Independence Air Strike Group was also nearby. The ship's commander, Captain 2nd Rank Nikolai Samsonov, knew neither sleep nor rest.
The entire crew worked hard, too. But more than others on the transition went to the electromechanical warhead. When the ship is rolling in a storm and four boilers are in operation, the mechanics have to work like hell, in temperatures above plus fifty degrees... In these harsh conditions, Senior Lieutenants Nikolai Zhuravlev and Roman Yemelyanov, Chief Ship's Petty Officer Rustam Abdrakhmanov, Chief Petty Officers Mikhail Yeremeyev and Alexey Rechkalov, and Petty officer of the 1st article Oleg Balushkin showed their firm character and high skill. The commander of the combat unit, Lieutenant Commander Alexander Koval, inspired people by his personal example... On the eve of the exit, navigator Captain 3rd rank Alexander Rovensky broke his right arm, but the ship did not leave: he confidently plotted the course and brought the destroyer to the specified points. Of course, the officer could be replaced, but for a real sailor, going to the ocean is like a reward...
The radio-technical warhead operated reliably. The tone was set by Captain 3rd Rank Evgeny Burakov and Senior Lieutenant Alexey Illarionov. Good training was shown by the chief ship's petty officer Yuri Kargin and the petty officer of the 2nd article Viktor Zhuravlev. EM "Burny" successfully fired small anti-aircraft artillery at an air target.
Not for a moment did the best officer of the watch, Lieutenant Commander Fyodor Ponyavin, allow himself to relax. Uninterrupted communication was provided by subordinates of Captain 3rd Rank Igor Antonov. Due to the lack of personnel, petty officers of the 1st article Almaz Akhiyarov and Sergey Desnyak, sailors Yevgeny Tkachenko and Mikhail Yegorychev were almost constantly on duty at combat posts.
The supply service was very efficient. Thanks to the efforts of Lieutenant Maxim Pekshev, the food was rich and delicious - day and night. And in the campaign and "ladle shoots".
What kind of storm can interfere with such a crew?!
To win
The destroyer "Burny" was in the ocean zone for several days, performing command tasks. The crew trained in issuing target designations, practiced interaction. They learned to launch a surface attack-the benefit of the Japanese came almost close. In short, they didn't doze off or take a walk.
In the Aniva Bay near Korsakov, the ship refueled with water using desalinators. And headed for the base.
We're caught in a crazy storm again, but it's always easier to get home. Withstood another test of strength. There were no prerequisites for accidents. And yet, at this exit, the level of technical readiness of the "Stormy" could not but cause alarm. The personnel of the destroyer have many questions for the complaining authorities. We don't even have enough emergency equipment. Before the campaign, the EM "Combat "helped out with twelve life rafts: on the" Stormy " the old ones are written off, but they do not give new ones. However, this is a common problem of the fleet.
The ship's commander Captain 2nd Rank Nikolay Samsonov is not discouraged:
- The tasks were completed successfully, everything in general turned out well. Although not so long ago, the destroyer was considered one of the worst in the compound. Very few people believed in us... Yes, of course, I had to be a little nervous at the exit. Not without reason. After all, many warhead commanders lost their practical skills, some of the officers were on vacation, even the XO was not there. But the "lieutenant's youth" did not disappoint. You can move on to a new stage of development...
This is probably a victory. Let it be small, but capacious. The ship was more than two thousand miles astern. For example, by the standards of the Black Sea Fleet, this is almost a long hike - it turns out just from Sevastopol to Gibraltar and back. However, for the " Stormy "at the present time, the case is not ordinary, symbolizing the" survivability " of the Russian Pacific Fleet in difficult economic conditions.
The crew showed a good, businesslike attitude. Even the young sailors felt like real sailors. This is how it should be. The destroyer actively performs combat missions, people serve and work on the "live" materiel, they managed to learn a lot. The result was a high assessment of the command. And the brigade commander, Captain 1 rank Vladimir Pepelyaev, even noted that the " Stormy "has a large untapped potential so far.
Revival
Regarding the potential. In the recent past, the still-ageless destroyer " Burny "was brought to the place of its current base almost" inanimate", in tow. The technical complexity of "resurrection" is indescribable. This ship was initially abandoned. The crew consisted of several dozen people. There were practically no funds for restoration. The decision resulted, in fact, in an experiment-to restore the ship mainly by personnel, without putting it against the factory wall. There were enough doubters, but the experience was a success. What it cost in terms of nervous and physical stress, only the crew of the revived "Stormy" knows.
With minimal participation of industry representatives, the electromechanical warhead was the first to" self-repair". And they started going out to sea...
The crew was replenished with young officers who strive to serve and achieve their goals-despite everything that stifles the naval service. The dedicated work of people is impressive even in general terms. Hence the results, the most significant of which can be considered the performance of a combat exercise by the main missile system (until 1997, the Burny EM used it only once, and even then at factory tests).
When the ship started to go out to sea, it was like a second wind... The introduction of the Burny into the permanent readiness forces of the Pacific Fleet was a significant moral incentive for the crew, because they were already tired of standing near the shore. Truly, the greatest value of the fleet is the ship's people, stuck to the" iron "and heart and soul, living not like other "mundane" population - from payday to payday, but from going to sea to going out...
Let the economic turmoil continue in the country and the destroyer crew can only dream of long-distance trips, people serve with a desire, sparing no effort and health, and hope that they bring real benefits to their country... Maybe the country will take more care of such people and ships?
Sometimes you hear: the fleet is dying, there is no future...
A comparative analysis shows that in the numerous transformations of the 90s, the fleet survived to a greater extent than the country that created it. Things are not so bad as long as submarines, surface ships, and airships enter the ocean zone and successfully perform combat missions.
Time works for the navy, and Russia can't do without it!
