Structure of the ball

Surface: panels (32 before, now 12-24), stitched or glued. Material: PVC (cheap, hard), TPU (professional, soft), polyurethane (the best). Lining: fabric (1-4 layers) for shape and cushioning. bladder: latex (elastic, but loses air) or butyl (holds pressure). Valve: for inflation.

Professional balls (FIFA Quality Pro) have 4-5 layers of lining and TPU surface.

Quality standards

FIFA Quality: the ball passed tests for weight (410-450 g), circumference (68-70 cm), pressure (0.6-1.1 atm), rebound (50-70% of the height of fall). Loss of shape after 2000 strikes. Water absorption (not more than 10% of weight). Certificate: the ball must have the "FIFA Quality" or "FIFA Quality Pro" logo. Without a certificate, it is not allowed to participate in tournaments.

How to choose a ball

For grass (grass): with panels, non-slip. For park (asphalt, soil): with PVC coating (durable). For indoor: ball with reduced rebound (futsal). For children: smaller weight and size (No.4). Do not take balls from Chinese no-name brands (they fall apart after two games). Test: squeeze the ball — it should bounce back elastically. Drop from 1 meter — the rebound should be 50-70 cm.
