200 лет назад, 18 мая 1800 года, скончался А.В. Суворов, великий русский полководец, генералиссимус русской армии.

Пятьдесят два года жизни отдал прославленный полководец службе, участвовал во многих боях, а войска под его началом одержали победы более чем в шестидесяти сражениях.

Как гениальный полководец Суворов проявил себя прежде всего в двух русско-турецких войнах. При разгроме войск противника в сражениях при Туртукае, Козлудже, Кинбурне, Фокшанах, Рымнике, беспрецедентном штурме Измаила раскрылся талант генерала.

В свой последний, ставший легендарным, поход фельдмаршал отправился в качестве главнокомандующего союзной армией. Войска под его командованием нанесли поражение французам в сражениях на реке Адде, при Нови, а переход через Сен-Готард и Чертов мост по праву можно назвать беспримерным в военной истории. За все это А.В. Суворову было пожаловано звание генералиссимуса.
