A. V. VAKHRAMEYEV. Struggle of the Warsaw Treaty Countries for Disarmament

The article traces the history of this struggle which proceeds in three directions: support rendered by the Warsaw Treaty countries to the Soviet initiatives in disarmament; joint efforts by the member-countries, and the initiatives by individual members.

M. G. KOROTKIKH. The 1864 Legal Reform in Russia

The reform came in the wake of the abolition of serfdom in 1861 and was its direct consequence. In the period preceding its adoption two major trends came to grips: on the one hand, there was an opinion that the feudal legal system needed only "cosmetic" changes, while on the other, there was a group of legal experts who successfully defended a radical change of court proceedings and the judicial system as a whole. They turned to the West European patterns in the absence of Russian traditions.

A. N. MERTSALOV. On the Criticism of the Bourgeois Historiography of the Second World War

The author reviews the recent Soviet works on the Western historiography of the Second World War and points at their certain shortcomings and the problems still awaiting their solution.

S. S. KHROMOV. Felix Dzerzhinsky at the Head of National Economy

The author draws on documentary materials (some of them used for the first time) of 1921 - 1926 to present Dzerzhinsky's ideas which retain their relevance today.
