People are fragile. I try to be careful with them (interview)
In the House of Culture "GES-2" continues a series of special shows in the framework of the program "Metamorphoses: transformations, resurrections and magical cinema". These are eight very different films, defined by the curator of the program Denis Ruzaev as a movie "full of changes - and films about changes". IK talked to Denis not only about metamorphoses and the past, but also about the present: how to feel and understand modernity. Or at least survive it. - Denis, what is a movie in "GES-2"? What is its logic? Is it a vessel that communicates with other activities of the Cultural Center? Independent voice? A reaction to the space in which it is displayed? To the public that comes here? For the time we live in? — It seems that there is a high risk of going into some general words — especially since it would be presumptuous of me to speak on behalf of the institution. The logic, perhaps, is to create a space for reflection-both on our part and on the part of the viewer — on those themes, plots and figures that could help us better understand modernity. Or to feel it more precisely and deeply. Or at least survive it. Some of these themes and figures appear in the selection and concepts of programs and special shows, some-in those rental releases that we select for display in "GES-2", some-as if they are born spontaneously in the process. Like, for example, the fact that some of the films purchased for film distribution, before being released in Russia, go through some, let's say, cuts — and at a distance, these censorship intrusions, of course, add up to a separate, poignant plot. As for the place of the film program in HES-2 ,it is both independent and enters into a dialogue with the ideas and projects of the House of Culture as a whole. But this is not an imposed dialogue — rather, when you see that, conditionally, an exhibition has opened with a great concept, you involuntarily start thinking about how this concept is transferred to the language or history of c ...
