Of the three paronyms mentioned in the title, only the adjective valuable has long been used in Russian, while the other two appeared in it relatively recently. In the interpretation of the word valuable, there are some discrepancies between dictionaries concerning both the allocation of certain meanings and their semantic shades, and the wording itself, as well as the numbering of meanings. Without going into the details of these discrepancies, we would like to formulate the meaning of this word on the basis of existing definitions as follows:: 1. Cost a lot of money, expensive. 2. Peren. One that is important, essential; one that is cherished, very necessary. 3. With the indicated cost, price.
In order to show how this adjective functions in these meanings, it is necessary (as it was done in the previous notes) to outline first of all the circle of nouns that are combined with it, and to illustrate this compatibility with quotations from fiction and periodicals.
In relation to the first meaning of this word, you can specify the following nouns: things, gift, prize, prize, trophy, purchase, acquisition, decoration, vase, service, tableware, necklace, ring, picture, coin, stamp, real estate, collection, equipment, manuscript, furs, etc. For example:
"There is a decision to reward Comrade Dovlatov with a valuable gift" (Dovlatov. Suitcase); "All things of any value-rings, spoons-have long been pawned" (Herzen. Past and thoughts); "The crown of the winner and valuable prizes will be awarded to the most charming, erudite and economic plump girl" (Today. 1994. May 27); "If you get a very valuable or rare painting, you need to create special conditions for it, emphasizing its significance" (Home hearth. 1998. December).
With the adjective valuable in the second (figurative) meaning of this word, the largest number of nouns is used, mainly abstract ones: information, message, observation, information, testimony, recognition, sentence, remark, supplement, indication.
