Как показано в статье коэффициент ,  который принимают как электрическую или диэлектрическую постоянную вакуума или эфира, никакого отношения к свойствам эфирной среды  не имеет, а является только коэффициентом пропорциональности. Т. К.  физические величины, т.е. заряды электронов, рассматриваются непосредственно в системе СИ, то коэффициент  должен быть равен единице.
